Tonsai, Krabi. December 2013
December 04, 2013Finally got down to compiling to short video clips I took with a borrowed Go Pro. Pity there isnt much climbing footage as I was pretty involved in climbing and just wanted to enjoy myself.
It was the 4th time I've been to Tonsai to climb. Given that I was training for boulder season 2014, I didnt had much climbing time on the lead walls. Took towards working on more roof routes this time. Despite being a boulderer more than anything, I still have this hesitation towards roof routes. Haha. But I tried a couple of inclines and worked on getting my power and movements in.
Flashed Wake & Bake 7a+. Probably not something to gloat on, but its a technical crack climb and I really loved it (and fought through it because of he lack of endurance). Sent By way of Deception, 7b, which started off with a 8m boulder on a straight-out roof, before even clipping in the first quickdraw. Pfft. Glad I finally did it, smoothly too! Worked on Phet Mak, 7c, but failed to redpoint it as I couldnt get the last jump crux to a gaston pocket. :p I worked out the moves on all these routes on my own and I would say thats the best part about climbing on rocks! I did Riesenbaby, 7a on Tonsai Roof, but have yet to bag in Tidal Wave or Baby Gorilla. I've done my 7cs a couple of years ago, so this trip wasnt one for chasing grades. I just needed to feel the love for climbing again, and its really important, especially here in Singapore when things can get a little heavy and stiff.

That said, I've started to shift my plans away from me joining World Cups, due to work commitments, and towards more rock trips! Perhaps Grampians in May-June, if I can squeeze it in between meetings and the netball competition season! I am so psyched to keep climbing and to keep getting better!
Cheers!
